Certain track types are less suited to some ground conditions and great care should be exercised in track selection. Clark cannot make exact recommendations since working conditions, site terrain and ground conditions can vary considerably offering unique circumstances.
As a general rule, close spaced tracks with wide plates are better suited to soft ground conditions and wider spaced tracks with narrower plates are better suited to harder ground conditions and steeper slopes, offering greater climbing ability. However, it should be noted that tracks with close spaced plates are not suited to use in heavy snow conditions or some types of sticky mud conditions. This is due to the potential for material being unable to escape between the track plates and building up between track and tyre which can, in extreme cases, cause machine bogey transmission problems. As manufacturers of a wide range of tracks for many tyre makes and tread patterns, we offer recommendations of track/tyre suitability and compatibility however, due to the many variables in track use, ie. tyre design, inflation pressure, ground conditions, machine limitations etc, the ultimate decision of suitability for a track for it’s purpose, must be made by the user/operator.
Each set of tracks carries an identification badge giving the exact tyre size and tread pattern for which the track was designed. It is essential that the correct track is used for each tyre type.
